The Youth Hub:You Are Important - How Your Choices Today Affect Your Tomorrow

Hey Youth!

You are the light of the future. You can overcome everything that is negative and unproductive. How you handle the pressures of life can either strengthen you or weaken you. However, we have hope that you will choose to be empowered and make the right decisions to help yourself and others.

Let’s take a moment to consider: who is important here? I hope your answer is YOU. If you are important, then you should make wise choices concerning your life.

Taking substances is one of those choices that can negatively change the trajectory of your life and those around you.

Substances such as illicit drugs and prescription overdoses have been a concern among adolescents. The risky outcomes have claimed many lives and caused significant damage. According to BrowardSchools.com, 4 out of 5 students are using illicit drugs. Some have short-term effects, such as impaired coordination, multiple sexual partners, date violence, memory issues, and poor judgment. Others have long-term effects, including addiction, overdose, reduced learning capabilities, decreased attention span, weakened verbal communication skills, a lower IQ, diminished abilities, and a 60% decrease in graduation rates. The worst effect is death—the one you can never come back from. Don’t risk yourself by using illicit drugs. There are positive outlets that can help you deal with life’s challenges.

Stop, think: You Are Important!

Sincerely,

The SARA Team
